Webinar Human Centered AI - Tuesday, October 26, 2021

Data and data technology have become an integral part of anything we do and helps us in many ways. In our work, during study, on the road, in fact throughout our daily lives. Data technology makes things easier, more accessible, faster, we make fewer mistakes. We also increasingly trust that the data we use and/or produce is correct.

πŸ‘‰ How do we actually deal with this as human beings?
πŸ‘‰ What does data do for us and should we be afraid that we will be replaced by Artificial Intelligence or does it complement us?
πŸ‘‰ What is the Human-Centered approach, what should we pay attention to?
πŸ‘‰ Where are the opportunities and threats?
πŸ‘‰ What is Hybrid Intelligence and how do we safeguard that human beings are optimally supported and augmented by AI-based technology?

IT Circle Netherlands and Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) organized a webinar about these topics. The discussions was presided by Prof. Emile Aarts, associated with JADS and Dutch AI Coalition and broadcasted from JADS MariΓ«nburg Campus in Den Bosch. After the plenary session there were several topics within the themes: Legal/Ethical Frameworks and Practices in the industry. Join us (online) to be informed and updated about Human centered AI.

Chairman Prof. Emile Aarts hosted the plenary sessions together with his guests (a.o.): Merel Noorman (Ass. Prof. Tilburg University - Data Science Ethics, Regulation and Governance on AI), Gianluigi Bardelloni (KPN - Data & Analytics, ICAI lab on Responsible AI), Mariya Yurchenko (Data Scientist - Omron) and Noelle Cicilia (JADS Data Ethics startup).Β

Some of the keytakeaways from the several breakout sessions:

πŸ‘‰ Embedding social sciences in AI development helps to maintain a human perspective when analyzing big data. An algorithm can quickly turn into a phishing expedition. So don't let the algorithm run just like that: human decisions ultimately determine the value of the data.
πŸ‘‰ Decide in advance which techniques you want to use in the data model.
πŸ‘‰ Determine the correct semantic relationships in the language processing model.
πŸ‘‰ Make sure you understand your own data model well, so that it can be explained to project colleagues.
πŸ‘‰ Make ethics an important part of the organization by creating ethical awareness.
πŸ‘‰ Formulate answers to ethical dilemmas and draw up guidelines. Discuss and confirm these with the top management of your organization.
πŸ‘‰ Devise ethical checks and adjust the control to the use of AI algorithms.
πŸ‘‰ AI Augmented reality offers opportunities to record how people actually do their work (instead of relying on assumptions). Do think about data storage in the production process: when do I store data and until when should the data remain linked to the individual operator?
